The Audition Process
- We will schedule a time to meet with you for a preliminary audition consisting of the following components:

- Should showcase your greatest strengths as a singer, and ideally your ability to sing lyrical melodies expressively and with beautiful tone
- Scales
- To determine your range and overall vocal quality
- Pitch test
- To evaluate your ear and sense of pitch
- Possible exercises may include being asked to sing back a melody played on a piano, or picking out the notes in a chord played on a piano
- Sight-reading
- To evaluate your ability to read sheet music
- A short excerpt (a few measures) from some song or choral work
- Solo
- Following your initial audition, if you seem to be a strong candidate to potentially join DCC, you will be invited to a callback, consisting of:
- Meeting, interacting, and singing with all the current members of the choir, as well as your other fellow auditionees
- Participating in sectionals with other singers of your voice type
- Learning an excerpt of a piece in DCC's repertoire
- Possibly more sight-reading
- An additional prepared 30-second solo, contrasting with the one you sang in your initial audition
